Spider-Man: A Homecoming of Expectations

We are just one week away until Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters!

Thanks to the Marvel/Sony Accords, the young web-slinger, future Avenger is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as we will see him in his first solo aventure.

For the moment we’re in turn for an all-time Marvel classic since it’s holding a 93% Fresh score in Rotten Tomatoes and the buzz around the film is crazy hot.

So what we can expect from Tom Holland’s second rodeo as Spidey?

Peter Parker: The New Avenger

Critics rave about Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Paker/Spider-Man. From all the clips, we can see the kid as the charisma and the presence to be a major star in the superhero genre, more than holding his own alongside superstars like Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton.

Obviously,  we will see a deeper exploration into Peter’s life as a teenager, see who his crush is, how he copes with been a superhero in the making. We expect to see a more intimate story that doesn’t rush our beloved hero into saving the world.

Maybe he can steal some of Downey Jr. thunder too, who for the past 10 years has turned into out favorite actor/superhero. It will be more intimate, less avenging but definitely is an audition for Spider-Man become the next great Avenger.

Iron Man: The Mentor

It’s great to see Downey Jr. back as Tony Stark/Iron Man, more since we want to know how he copes with the shattering effects of Civil War. There a lot of questions up in the air right now…so many question!

People believed that Iron Man’s presence will hurt the film and turned it into Iron Man 4, but it’s obviously the opposite. We expect Tony to be more of a mentor for Peter, like a father figure until Spidey’s evolves into the superhero he will be. We saw that in glimpses during Civil War.

This is the time for Holland to shine. We’re eager to see the back and forth one-liners between Holland and Downey Jr. This should be fun.

Bad Keaton, bad!

One of my early memories was that Michael Keaton was Batman, a hero, the good guy (and those nightmares when I remember him as Beetlejuice). So for some of us seen Keaton as the villain feels a little bit weird, but tantalizing.

One thing for sure is we’re gonna get the best Marvel villain since Loki. We love Keaton, so we expect a worthy counterpart for Spidey.

Final verdict

We always look for something in these superhero flicks: can the actor become the hero, ala Downey Jr. became Tony Stark/Iron Man or Chris Evans became Captain America. We  expect Holland to be become the best Spider-Man ever.
